Cambodia 2009

Bill and I have been gone on a medical mission to Cambodia for the past 2 1/2 weeks. Here are a few photos from our trip. Friends from Juneau - to see more pictures and hear a presentation about the trip, come to the next multi-generational class on September 6th.

For 2 weeks, the Ship of Life was our home and workplace all-in-one.

The ship docks at a new village every week. Word spreads quickly that the ship has arrived. Many people come from nearby villages. The patient line starts forming as early as 3am. Clinic hours are from 8am until 4:30pm.

Bill had several Bible studies during our time in Cambodia. He visited this village home twice.

Over the weekend we visited Siem Reap. I must say something about our guide/translator. Mr. Neak was WONDERFUL!!! Not only did he do a fabulous job of translating for us, showing us the sites, and giving us history lessons. He also showed us where to stand to get the best pictures.

The medical team (from top): Bill - escort, Amanda - nurse, Bruce Hess - pediatrician, Marie-Claire - assistant (and wife) to the coordinator, A.D. Smith - surgeon, Sharon Smith - escort, Danette - triage nurse, Nikki - lab tech, Maria - triage assistant; Bill McDonough - photographer and medical coordinator during our time on the ship.
In additional to the Bible studies and devotionals Bill conducted, the clinic staff treated a total of 2,109 patients. I consider this mission a success!
