December 2011

December had so many pictures that I had to separate them into 2 posts. All of tomorrow's posts have to do with Christmas or the holiday season. So be sure to check back then. For now enjoy these other December pictures. I didn't realize until a little while ago that Jacob is in every picture - what a popular little boy!

This has to be my favorite picture of Jacob so far. I just love his little face!

These 2 have become quite a pair. She is always with him and wanting to take care of him or play with him. And whenever he hears her he smiles and looks for her. Hopefully this will last throughout their childhood.

I got to have all 3 Phelps kids over at the house one day right before Christmas. Needless to say, something was ALWAYS going on. But these 2 boys were making friends. Levi was being so sweet to Jacob, and Jacob was loving making a new guy friend.

Yes, Shadow and the baby are approximately the same size at this point.

Jacob loves this blanket because it's so colorful. When Big Sis saw the camera come out, she had to get in on the action.

Would you just look at these 2 clowns? I can tell, when Jacob gets a little older they will make some trouble together!

Uncle Bob saves the day! (for me and Marie)

Here is the picture that I was talking about a couple of days ago. Uncle Bob found it for me (thanks!). That's how Uncle Bob saved my day today, or my blog post I should say. You probably couldn't tell it from the picture, but just 2 hours earlier this sweet faced little girl was throwing the biggest temper tantrum this mama has ever seen! She's had a few little ones, but nothing like the one she had this day. I think another child took over her body and that's what happened, because it thankfully has not happened since. Needless to say, the whole ordeal was so traumatic that her and I both ended up in tears. When we got to Uncle Bob's, Marie got out of the car and immediately hugged him and went with him to the back porch swing. And that's how Uncle Bob saved Marie's day.

November 2011

The first big snow.

Marie loves playing in her 'tent'.

I don't know if it is just my babies, but for the first few months whenever I take their picture they have this deer in the headlights look in about half of them from the flash. Oh well!

Guy time!

Hanging out under the table. Oops! I mean clubhouse.

I've nearly rocked my rocking chair apart, so Bill decided to tighten everything up one night. And Marie decided to help. Now she has a fascination with finding little things to fix around the house.

We put up the Christmas tree shortly after Thanksgiving. Of course, Marie has to put the star on.

October 2011

Finally, a picture of "little Jake" with his namesake. We are blessed to have both of these Jake's in our life.

Happy boy!

Little buddies.

It's a bird . . . it's a plane . . . no! It's SuperBaby!

Happy Halloween!

Trip Down South 2011

Nearly every year we take a trip down south to see family. This year, while Bill went to a lectureship, the kids and I joined up with my mom and went to see our family in Pennsylvania. We only stayed a few days, but it did my heart so good to see my Aunt Dot and Uncle Bob and all the family there. I wish we could have stayed a few weeks! While the trip down there was long (which produced an unbelievable temper-tantrum from a certain 3 year old), it was well worth it.

The first picture I was going to show (but couldn't find it) was of Marie and Uncle Bob sitting on their back porch swing. After the tantrum mentioned above, Uncle Bob was the only person Marie would talk to. She practically jumped in his arms when we got to their house. Which was something since she had never met him. But Marie must have sensed a warmth in Uncle Bob, because they were inseperable for the rest of the night

Greg got Marie out of the temper tantrum, and for the rest of our time there tried to win Marie back over. And I think he did. Marie acted shy around him, but I think she actually had a little crush on him!

I'll never forget the Sunday we were there. We went to church with Aunt Dot and Uncle Bob. Afterwards, we met the rest of the family at a restaurant for lunch. Then we went back to Aunt Dot and Uncle Bob's house. We all had such a good time. Marie especially enjoyed dancing with Aunt Dot.

Also that afternoon, Roy played some music for us and even let Marie play on his guitar. She loved it!

It was Jacob that commanded everyone's attention most of the time, though. Not even 3 months old, and he was charming everyone!

He particularly liked to show out for his Mee-Maw.

When I was really little, Aunt Dot had come to visit us in Tennessee. I don't remember much of the story, but I do remember sitting at my bedroom window looking up at the stars with Aunt Dot and listening to her tell the most wonderful story about a star/angel named Angelica. So the trip to Pennsylvania would not have been complete without her telling the story of Angelica to Marie.

We only spent one day at McEwen with mom. But we did enjoy some relaxing time on the front porch.

Jim and Amy joined us for the day as well.

That evening at Mom's, Aunt Ruth and Ms. Lula Ann came over. Aunt Ruth is a professional baby holder (she has worked in the baby room at daycare for years). So it did not take too long for her and Jacob to strike up a conversation.

The last leg of the trip landed us with Bill's family. While at Bill's niece's wedding, Marie enjoyed some dancing time with her daddy.

We were surrounded by babies, and Marie loved it! 2 of Bill's nieces had babies about a month before Jacob was born. Needless to say, at any one time you could count on one baby sleeping, eating, pooping, or crying! But I love that Jacob will have 3 little cousins all around his own to play with. And Marie will be there to boss all of them around!

We enjoyed some good time with Bill's parents. Little did we know, that about a month later we would be making another trip down there after Bill's dad passed away. But this trip, Max was able to get some good granddaddy time in with the kids, and I am thankful for that.

I don't know when our next trip down south will be, but I can't wait!!!

September 2011 (catch-up)

Faithful blog followers - if you've stuck with me this long you are to be commended! The only excuse I have for not blogging in nearly 6 months (WOW!!!) is that I'm still adjusting to being a mom of 2. This blog begins a series of catch up blogs that should have you all caught up in about a week. Enjoy!

He's pretty cute. But don't let him fool you! He gives us a run for our money, which we were not use to with his big sister. How can you not love this sweet little guy?

This silly girl keeps me on my toes all the time! Can you imagine the mischief she gets into?

I just love babies wrapped up in these towels. Thanks Rachel!

Here's Marie on her first day of preschool. Doesn't she look like a big school girl?

Sweet baby Jacob!

Silly girl!

Marie loves taking care of her baby brother - and she's pretty good at it too!
