Icicles, Sick, and Snow

When we got back from Wasilla we came home to an ice castle . . . well, maybe I didn't describe it very accurately. But there were icicles hanging from the roof around the entire house. It looked really cool. This is a picture from our front porch.

Bill found this really long icicle from around the back part of the house. It must have been at least 3 1/2 feet long!

On Friday Marie and I both had some kind of stomach flu. When we got Marie up, we saw that at some time during the night she vomited because it was all over her and in her bed! I felt miserable all day. Poor Marie vomited about 6 times, and that's a lot considering she's only spit up about that many times in her whole life! Gross, but funny - at one point I was holding her and she vomited on my shirt and down my shirt. We both lived off of clear liquids all day long. But today things are back to normal. Thank God those kinds of things are usually short-lived.

When we returned from Wasilla, it had snowed about 12 inches while we were gone. It has been snowing pretty constantly for about 3 days now. Needless to say there has been quite an accumulation over that time. I don't know how much snow everyone else in Juneau is getting, but as you can see we have nearly 3 feet in our yard! That's more snow than I have ever seen - and I thought I saw quite a bit of snow up in Wasilla!

This is a picture of Bill right before he buried himself in the snow and made a snow angel. And let me tell you, with all the snow we've had that snow angel was pretty fat! Actually, I wanted to get a picture of Bill standing in the middle of the yard so I could see how high the snow was on him. All the snow we've had over the past couple of days is still light and fluffy, like cotton candy. He said there was more solid snow under his feet that was preventing him from standing on the actual ground. I don't know when it will stop snowing, but I am looking forward to seeing just how much accumulation we really get!
